Feisty....I am a retired librarian, and I love your ideas & persistence in making them happen! Wishing for a richie rich person to fund you to do this job for the next 20 years. All my best, Karen from Portland, OR
That looks fantastic - and I think I may have talked to a librarian at the library there at some point, so if they ever made the kits it would be a relatively simple thing to set up.
I am so impressed with your plan to link our youth to elders. We need more people like you in this world. I'm trying to imagine a government that would find the money to assist with programs like yours. One can hope.
What a wonderful story. I had no idea that community librarians would engage in programs outside of the library. The ones in our area don’t. Research has shown the benefits of inter-generational relationships. So impressed by your efforts. I wish you the best of luck finding a way to make this your full time work!
Thanks! I can't speak for all libraries but most bigger public libraries in Canada tend to do outreach (programs in the community), but the type and frequency of those programs would really depend on staffing etc. And yeah intergenerational relationships and programs are such a wonderful thing.
I'm really impressed with your efforts especially because of some of the things you've been struggling with.
I wonder if the school boards have access to extracurricular project funding that might be available. Or even curricular. Lifestyle history (sometimes called women's history) actually tells us more about the evolution of civilization than "men's history" (wars, kings, political turmoil)

Thanks Karen, I appreciate you (and yes I am the same Feisty from Twitter :)
Such a good idea ❤️ Strathcona County has a program called Linking Generations. This sounds like a great activity for a program like that!

Thanks Gwen! It's hard for me to imagine as well, but a girl can dream.

Your article needs to be amplified so folks with the $$ can find you 💕
Thank you, I appreciate that!
My fingers are crossed that his becomes a reality. There is so much value in this!
If and when it ever does, you know you'll be involved somehow :)
Feisty, I also follow you on Twitter. I mean if you are the same person as Feisty Librarian. :]

Thanks! I'm not sure about school boards but I could definitely look into that, as I'm open to any and all ideas at this point.
Thank you for sharing and more importantly for your efforts to connect people that others might think would not connect. Well done!
Thank you!
